Video of the Condit Dam in Washington State being disabled by explosives

Over the last few years, I've been hearing more and more about dam removals due to new research that shows that dams might not be so good for the environment and the species that live in its ecosystems. One of the biggest films to come out of this new dam removal movement is DamNation (which I still have been meaning to watch). If you want a quick way to understand this whole ordeal, the movie is supposed to be a good entry into this problem we've made for ourselves.

Anyway, with this movement of course comes a ton of videos uploaded online of dams being destroyed. This one here shows the Condit Dam in Washington State being disabled by explosives leading to an avalanche of water bursting through a small hole. Over time, the ecosystem here will revert back to its natural state and flow without manmade structures in place. And humans get to enjoy nature as it was intended. Nice all around, eh?

If you want to see more, here's another video below from National Geographic that shows conservationists restoring the ecosystem of Washington's Elwha River after the removal of 2 dams.
