Kim Jong-il's love of Hollywood made him create his own movie studio called Chollywood

Listen to photographer Eric Lafforgue talk about his visit to Chollima Movie Studios, dubbed "Chollywood", where Kim Jong-il made movies for dissemination throughout North Korea. Kim Jong-il was so inspired by Hollywood cinema that he took its ideas and turned them into massive propaganda ventures for North Korea. While he was able to enjoy movies from outside of the country, nobody else in North Korea was allowed to view similar films without explicit permission from Kim himself.

To this day, the effects of Kim's Chollima still exist in the country with videos and movies continually being made about how wealthy and prosperous North Korea is. But it's probably only a matter of time before this all falls apart like everything else has been lately in NK.
